Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR list for 2015

I am excited to once again be list making – about books of course –  with the always fun (and dangerously addictive) meme Top Ten Tuesday, created by The Broke and Bookish.

This week’s theme? Top Ten Books on Your Summer TBR list for 2015

Listed alphabetically by author

I have of course many more than ten titles I want to read but these are not to be missed! Some of these titles are on my #MustReadin2015 list. Some are by authors I saw speak over the last calendar year. Some are by authors I love or titles that come highly recommended.

A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah

This has come hugely recommended and I just picked it up at the library.

Mexican Whiteboy by Matt de la Peña

One of my recent favourite titles was We Were Here by de la Peña. Heard him speak in Bellingham in the early spring and want to read more of his work.

Beneath a Meth Moon by Jacqueline Woodson

I hear Woodson read excerpts of this book this spring when my husband and I went to see her. We bought a copy and I can’t wait to read it.

  1. The only title on this list that I’ve read is Fish in a Tree – loved it! So much! Can’t wait for Mark of a Thief! Also The Whisper looks like it will be really interesting – love the cover! Hearing a lot about Grasshopper Jungle so will keep my eye out for that one too! Sooo many books – so little time! But summer is soon here and once I get my revisions done – I’ll be happily reading again!

  2. A Long Way Gone was one of my favorite books to teach. It changed the fabric of who I was. I hope you enjoy it, too. I also absolutely love Mexican WhiteBoy and Beneath a Meth Moon. You have so many good ones here! My list wasn’t included on our TTT post this week by accident. I bet you wondered why we only posted five! I am looking forward to seeing what you read this week. Happy reading!

  3. What an intriguing list of books I’ve never read! Just discovered your blog today and I thank you in advance for inspiring some great summer reads.

  4. Reading Fish in a Tree right now with my son. After the first day, he said, “Mom- this is like the novel version of Thank You, Mr. Falker!” So many good lessons in this book.
